I've noticed recently how wonderful follow up emails are. I meet many people in my daily travels and get many business cards as a result. Many times, these business cards are tossed into a pile on my desk or a bin on my assistants desk to be entered into our database at some future time.
I work in the Home Inspection field and many of the realtors I meet have an email address on their card. Lately, I've been following up by email after I meet someone. I usually just send out a quick note saying something like:
"Hi there _________ (name), I'm John LaRocca, we met at ________________ (location) on __________ (day). I just wanted to follow up with you and send you a link to my website so that you could read more about my company, see a sample report, etc. www.laroccainspect.com. Please let me know if there is ever anything I can help you with, I look forward to seeing you in the field soon!"
It's so simple and I've had great responses. Just this past week I sent out about 30-35 follow up emails and I ended up booking 2 presentations, booking an inspection, and having three other positive responses from clients (2 who had used my inspectors and wanted to let me know that they loved our services and one who said she had checked out the site and would be recommending us in the future).
All of those wonderful responses came from my emails and it only took me about 30 minutes! WELL WORTH IT! I will definitely be continuing the trend.
