After 30+ years of working with sales professionals I believe the reason is really quite simple; most people are more afraid of moving outside of their comfort zone than they are of not reaching their goals. It took me a long time to accept this as a reality, but it sure seems to be.
People's comfort zones are created by adding up the things we have done often enough to make us feel comfortable atteptimg to do those things again. Whenever we are called upon to try something new, it automaticaaluy falls outside of our established comfort zone. Just thinking about trying something new, causes us to feel fear, nervousness, apprehension and frequently guilt. All feelings that makes us feel uncomfortable and that we try to avoid whenever possible.
When we suffer from these fears long enough, we tend to get discouraged and start making excuses as we search for feelings that are more comfortable.
The real challenge is, in order for us to fulfill our dreams we must learn to embrace these feeling of being uncomfortable and use them to power us, to give us the strength necessary to push past self-imposed limitations and live to the potential we possess inside.
Thought for today: You must have dreams for your dreams to come true!
Have a productive day.
