Here is a sampling of what you can find happening around Sonora this weekend:
Columbia College Choir
The Columbia College Choir will hold a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Dogwood Theater to raise money for its four day music and cultural tour to Southern California. The concert will feature the Columbia College Choir, directed by John Carter, with Gail Johnson as accompanist and special guest artists Linda Carter and Liz Carter. Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for people under 25 and $25 for a family. Call Shelia Jacobs at 209-586-7329 for ticket information.
Black Oak Casino
Tommy Castro will play the blues at 9 p.m. Friday in the Willow Creek Lounge. John Lee Hooker Jr. will continue the blues 9 p.m. Saturday night. Admission is free to guests 21 and over.
Grow Your Own Food
The Foothill Collaborative for Sustainability, or FoCuS, will join with Tuolumne County Master Gardeners to sponsor the second annual "Grow Your Own Food" event from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the Tuolumne County Ambulance and Fire Building at 18440 Striker Court near Standard. Last year's event was a huge success and this year the sponsors have added even more to the event. Anyone interested in sharing extra seeds, gardening books and magazines, or just coming to pick up some seeds and learn how to start a garden is welcome.
