Easter is Coming to Tuolumne County

The Hunt is On!

Easter is coming to Tuolumne County this weekend. There will be egg hunts, a parade, steam train rides and more taking place throughout the county Saturday and Sunday. So don your Easter bonnets, bring baskets for the children and join the egg hunts! Here is a schedule of some of the events:

Christian Heights Assembly of God is partnering with Tuolumne Park and Recreation District to host a free "Giant Community Easter Egg Hunt" from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Tuolumne MemorialEaster Egg Park in Tuolumne. There will be over 12,000 plastic eggs, 300 prizes, a bounce house, face painting, puppet shows and more. Admission is free but registration is required. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and the egg hunt starts at 10 a.m. For more information call Tuolumne Park and Recreation District at 209-928-1214.

Dodge Ridge Ski Resort in Pinecrest will hold a "Golden Easter Egg Hunt" on Sunday. The Easter Bunny will be hitting the slopes and awarding a free Dodge Ridge 20010-11 season pass to the child that finds the golden egg. Registration takes place from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with the hunt beginning at 12:30 p.m.

The Twain Harte Rotary Club will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt at 1 p.m. Sunday at Eproson Park in Twain Harte. Games will follow. In the event of extremely muddy conditions, the event may be rescheduled.

The Columbia Chamber of Commerce will present its annual Victorian Easter Celebration Sunday in Columbia State Historic Park. This is one of the largest Easter events in the foothills. Egg hunts will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. Children will have the opportunity to compete for prizes in the popular Easter egg hunts, located in the Miner's Cabin Field. The Small Fry Egg Search begins at noon for ages 3 to 5. After the parade, the Junior Egg Poachers, ages 6 to 8, will try their luck at 1 p.m., and the Great Egg Easter BasketScramblers, ages 9 to 12, will search at 1:30 p.m. Whoever finds the golden egg will receive a special prize. The Victorian Easter Parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Main Street. Parade registration begins at 11 a.m. in front of the Fallon Hotel. Prizes will be awarded for the fanciest Victorian hat, best dressed Victorian couple, best dressed little girl, and best dressed little boy. Don your best 1800s era apparel and march in the parade or just come and watch.
