The 1st stage of the Tour of California is now a memory, but it will go down as remarkable one for Cool. My involvement with the Divide Chamber of Commerce and active participation in the Auburn Chamber of Commerce put me in the "cat bird" seat to see the race both as an organizer and a spectator. May 16th brought at least 2,500 people to Cool. We had a Chamber VIP tent set up complete with VIP parking and shuttles to the race viewing area provided by Red Hawk Casino and horse drawn carriage rides by Iron Horse Ranch. Tiechert treated the locals to BBQ & preferred parking, Johnsonville Brats sold over 1,000 with proceeds going to charity, Blast Off Music Productions had not one but 2 sound stages, the beer garden by Cool Beans and the yummy Kettle Corn rounded out the festivities for a grand event. The food was good the company was great. The race passed quickly, but the town and fans stayed for the party. "A Cool View" was a spectacularly successful event because the whole town pulled together, we thank our many sponsors: Wells Fargo, Tiechert Aggregates, Red Hawk Casino, Iron Horse Ranch, Auburn Lake Trails, Johnsonville, G & O Body Shop & our Community Partners at GDRD.
