Letting God Make Our Lives The Adventure He Intended...

This morning I read three scriptures that really caught my attention;

First: "And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ." - Ephesians 3:17-18

Second: "There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." - 1 John 4:18

Third: "My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me." - Psalm 63:8

Here's what I think God meant by these scriptures...

He wanted us to make our lives a great big adventure. He wanted us to know him in greater depth instead of working on our own towards a safe lifestyle.

We all want the adventure that an abandoned life to God can give, but we cling to "old ways" because change scares us. Even though we feel safest when our lives are predictable and things seem to be under control, I think that God wants us to break out of that mentality, to find out what adventures God has planned for us.

The most important adventure out there is, knowing the Lord. The power of knowing His Love is sort of overwhelming, which is why we hide from a relationship with our Lord sometimes, and keep him at a distance... We settle for mediocrity because it feels safer, and more comfortable. The worst part of that is, during all of that hiding, we continue to battle fear. Only the Lord's Love, can defeat fear. A predictable and safe lifestyle - blocks a true relationship with the Lord.

So here's my conclusion; When surprises shake up our routine, let's be happy about it. Welcome it. This is precisely what we need - to wake us up, and point us in God's direction.
