This post is prompted from a recent discussion with a client and his son. They are renovating a 1980s home. While discussing doorways, the son said that installing a pocket door would make the house still feel like a 1980s house because pocket doors are passe....in his opinion.

This was a situation where I needed to take in a lot of information, to understand their wants and needs before I commented or offered my professional opinion. (Which I did in the end.)

BUT......................

What do you think? Is putting a pocket door into a home today, where the doorway would then function better be a bad idea because pocket doors are passe'?
