Shining a light on a home selling issue.

Yes, I have blogged about this in the past, but I need to do it again, due to a personal experience.

All to often I visit homes with odors that cannot be located. The first issue is that seller's frequently cannot smell the odors that they live with day after day, but their visitors and potential buyers surely smell them.

This is the light that is needed:

These next photos are from my home. We have cats but I'm very sensitive to cat odors. When I walked into this room today, the smell of urine was prevalent and disturbing.

Without thinking, I got down on my hands and knees to find the "wet spot." I could find nothing. Then my light came on and I retrieved my blacklight from my staging tool box.

Here are the results:

BEFORE photos: These before photos show how the wall appeared before it was black-lit. You can see nothing and in my hunt I did not get my nose close enough to find the problem.

AFTER: As soon as I turned on the black light it was obvious. This cat was spraying the wall, not wetting the floor.

Natures Miracle took care of the walls and the room will be out-of-bounds for a few days until we discover the culprit.

It's an easy remedy/detective and not very expensive. I got mine at Home Depot.
