Universal Waste is a broad term used to define items that are either not broken down in a landfill or that could cause water, soil and air contamination in the landfil environment. This can include batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, and some toys and novelties.
e-Waste includes all electronic waste, such as computers, VCRs, fax machines, cell phones and stereos.
Most of e-Waste items and batteries can be recycled at a local retailer such as Best Buy, Staples or Radio Shack. You can also offer functioning e-waste items to local nonprofit organizations.
http://FreeCycle.org also offers services to help with e-waste disposal.
With the ever-expanding landfills in the Santa Clarita area, let's do our best to reduce the volume of waste that reaches our landfills!
