I love real estate and I love my clients. They are the greatest group of folks.
I get excited about helping first time home buyers purchase their first home and sometimes go way over and beyond the call of duty.
This is one of those instances. My husband, who is a contractor, but also a full-time teacher, helps me a lot with my escrows when there is a little something that needs to be done and neither buyer or seller can kick in to accomplish the task.
My thought is if I can get the escrow closed and get a pay check, my husband gets that money too. We've always looked at our marriage as a team effort, so his helping me is quite natural.
In this instance the buyers needed a fence, which we negotiated in the contract, however there was a misunderstanding as to where the fence was to supposed to go. The seller put it where I instructed, however the buyer called me as soon as she drove by the house and saw the fence going in and told me that was not where it was supposed to go. After trying to renegotiate the fence, I asked my husband if he would just build it, it seemed like it would be much easier. He said he would if I helped. Well, that wasn't exactly what I had in mind but you gotta do what you gotta do. I convinced my son to help too, which turned out to be a smart move.
Garry said it would be a three hour job (he cemented the posts in a few days earlier), however, it was one of those days. His nail gun broke, we had to buy a new one, that one didn't work right, we had to get another one and a few other fun things happened, but we finished it in one day and my client is VERY happy.
I saw the seller not long after and he thanked me profusely for taking care of the fence issue.
It cost me some $$, that's for sure and some time, but I closed the escrow, had both sides, and have a very happy buyer and seller.
Garry is now fixing a bunch of holes in the dryawall in one of my REO's so the home will be financeable. He isn't getting paid directly, but when I get paid, we get paid. Now that's what I call teamwork.
I love you honey.
