National Night Out Against Crime

The Santa Clarita Sheriff's Department and the City of Santa Clarita will host the annual National Night Out event at the Santa Clarita Sheriff's station on August 1.

The Night Out campaign is a national event involving residents, law enforcement agentcies, civic groups, business, neighborhood organizations and local officials to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. The campaign also encourages support for local anti-crime programs and lets criminals know that communities are organized to prevent crime.

The Santa Clarita Night Out will feature refreshments, giveaways, the Sheriff's posse, McGruff the crime dog and more. Santa Clarita residents are also being encouraged to leave their porch lights on that night to "put a light on crime".
