Snow is melting quickly in the Sierra Nevada Mountains
If you haven't been to Yosemite National Park for a while--or even if you have--you'd be amazed at the water level in the valley and in the high country. Record snowfall this past winter, and current exceedingly hot temperatures, have resulted in more water run-off than I've ever seen.
Highway 120 just opened through the high sierras this past week, and today the cables on Half Dome went up. The snow is melting quickly, however, sending torrents of water cascading down the cliff faces.
We enjoyed 2 hot, exhilarating days hiking, surrounded by exquisite beauty, before returning to the cooler temperatures of San Mateo County.
Great to get away, and great to return, refreshed and raring to go!
