Can you believe that it’s that time of year again when everyone wants to see the fireworks? The good news is that despite economic cutbacks, there are several locations throughout San Diego County where you can check out the fireworks and celebrate Independence Day.
San Diego Bay – Big Bay Boom 9:00 p.m.
Fireworks will be discharged simultaneously from barges placed strategically around the Bay off Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero, and Chula Vista. Fireworks will also be discharged at the Imperial Beach Pier.
Coronado – Glorietta Bay - 9:00 p.m.
La Jolla Cove (discharged by one of our own) - 9:00 p.m.
Mira Mesa Community Park / Miramar Lake - 9:00 p.m.
Ocean Beach Pier - 9:00 p.m.
Mission Bay – Sea World 9:30 p.m.
Santee – Town Center Community Park Ballfields - 9:00 p.m.
La Mesa – Lake Murray - 9:15 p.m.
El Cajon – Kennedy Park - 9:00 p.m.
Rancho Bernardo Heights Middle School - 9:00 p.m.
San Marcos – Bradley Park - 9:00 p.m.
Poway – Poway High School - 9:00 p.m.
Escondido – Grape Day Park - 9:00 p.m.
Carlsbad – Legoland - 8:30 p.m.
San Diego County Fair – Del Mar Fairgrounds - 9:00 p.m.
National City – Kimball Community Park - 9:00 p.m.
I think my most memorable Independence Day celebrations occurred when I was a child and we were permitted to hold sparklers and the fathers would set off the fireworks in the street. How times have changed!
Have a safe and Happy Fourth of July!
