San Diego's Rental Market has remained strong. However with the ever present vacant homes for sale, there have been many cases of criminal activity. The biggest scam that has been going on for several years now here in San Diego rental properties is a criminal who posts ads for rent on a vacant house that is for sale and pretends to be the Realtor. The criminals take a cash deposit and sign a fake lease agreement with the unsuspecting tenants who then have no home to actually rent. The criminals often change the locks in the property to pull of the scam. So beware of properties for rent in San Diego that seem too good to be true.
