Although there was much written about this so-called Twitter tool earlier this year, it seems that there are Twitter users that are still falling victim to this scam. The StalkTrak Twitter tool is a scam used to get your user name and password, and hijack your Twitter account.
I received an email yesterday, from someone that I recently began following. His message read, “Find out who’s stalking your Twitter! tubtap.ru”. The
“tubtap.ru” is a link to a page that looks very legitimate, and much like any other Twitter tool that you’ll find. I’ve included a screen shot of it here >>>
Since I’m not all that concerned with who may be stalking me on Twitter ; ) I did not fill in the form, and proceeded to look up StalkTrak on the search engines. What I found was a myriad of blog posts and warnings about this Twitter tool scam!
Do NOT, under any circumstances, enter your user name and password, or you can kiss your Twitter account goodbye!
Here’s what’s so scary about this StalkTrak scam- The person that sent this to me had a huge list of followers, and is now locked out of his own Twitter account. He will have to somehow set up an entirely new account, with a new name, and try to recreate his Twitter following, which could greatly affect his business and livelihood.
Seriously scammers? Get a life and stop ruining other peoples! Is it just me, or does everyone agree that these scam artists are the biggest group of losers, and that they must have been picked on all through their school years, and now they’re out to get everyone? I’m just sayin’….
