Using the Reblog is such a great opportunity. When someone has spent endless time and effort on a post that provides good information and insight into our Industry and business, it is a privilege to reblog that information out to our local market. What a great idea and we are so much richer for the opportunity to do so.
It is an opportunity that you will want to use correctly. Many times, members that are reblogging will turn off comments. In my opinion there can be a time when you want to do that and there will be times when you do not want to do that. The information that you are sharing to your local market is for the Consumer. You want to be able to engage with the Consumer. If you have turned off comments, you really have defeated the purpose of the reblog.
There can be times when we only want to honor someone for inspiring us and the membership. That can makes sense but if you are putting out that good localism knowledge for your local market....well leave on the comments function.
One other thing, is that the reblog is not to use in any negative way. I worked hard on a post about using photos to market and sell real estate and to promote Localism. One of the members used my post to make a negative comment about touching up photos on REOs. It just about broke my heart. I had worked so hard on the post and then to have it misused.
The moral of the story post is to understand how you are using the reblog and to do it well. If is going to your local market well you will use all the same SEO tags that you would if you had written the post. We thank the original writer graciously, but we want to be clear that we are sharing important market information. Oh and please be respectful of the content of others.
Just saying....
