This morning I was spending some quality time with my RSS News Reader (NetNewsWire - free on Mac OS X), catching up on a number of articles. OK, I was about 485 articles behind, but who has time for all that? I tend to concentrate on local news as much as I can. I found an article in the Santa Cruz Sentinel about how the local economy is in a slump:
Local Economy is in a slump - Santa Cruz Sentinel
Here in Santa Cruz, our economy is closely tied to the Silicon Valley economy, which by all reports is quite healthy, so I read this article with especially keen interest. Buried down deep in this article I saw something shocking:
The Santa Cruz Association of Realtors reported 1,561 members at the end of December and 1,209 at the end of February.
Yumpin' yimminies! That's almost a 23% decrease in the number of Realtors in the span of two months! I wonder how other local Assocations of Realtor are doing?
