In a current time when it seems that everyone has tightened up their belts due to the volatile stock market, corporate bail outs, elections and whatnot. It seems that everyone is holding on to every last penny is preparation for the sky to fall.
But yesterday I received the kindest, most rewarding voice mail I had ever received to date from someone I have never met, never spoken to, never even knew his name. You see, I performed a Staging Consultation for a large home in Tarzana, CA a couple weeks ago. The young couple have had their home on the market for a couple months now and needed someone to come in and tell them what needed to be done to better prepare and show their home to buyers. I spoke to the owners a few days later, who said they were, "In the process of implementing my suggestions..." but never heard from them again.
Although I wish I could record the voicemail for all to hear, you'll just have to read it and imagine the sort-of "Clive Peirce" English accent to the voice and enthusiasm:
"Hello, Connie, my name is Ted McGxxxxx. I'm the Agent for the Hunt's and they just shared with me a copy of your report. I must say I was so impressed with your spot-on professionalism and detail of the report that I decided that I simply must call you. I am so impressed by how the Hunt's have taken your suggestions into account, how extremely please they were with you and the report: that with your permission I would like to forward a copy of this report and your information to the surrounding offices as well....." I could go on, but this was the gist of it and I have been walking on Cloud 9 ever since.

Of course I did call and thank him as well personally. But I just wanted to share with everyone that even on a cloudy day, there is always a silver lining, and to keep in mind, that EVERYTHING you do professionally is seen and touched by MORE than just the people you come in direct contact with.
Remember that even the smallest of details, the smallest of services, is a direct reflection of you. Now - go touch somebody the world.

It's always nice to get this sort of unsolicited feedback. For me it's the highest compliment someone can make in terms of my business - to recognize the quality and value of the work and service I provide and then share it with others. That's a wonderful feeling Connie! I can see you on that cloud...
That was really great of him to leave that message, to call you at all. People are always ready to complain about a service, but rarely make the effort to praise and compliment a service. I'm happy for you and impressed with him for stepping up and letting you know you made an impression.
A little thank you goes a long way in our business!
Connie That would definitely make my day. Good for you. It only goes to show you that being professional goes a long WAY !
Connie- That was such a great thing for the agent to do! You did a great job and it got noticed- and now you will reap the rewards :)
Connie, it just goes to show that you know your stuff girl! How nice of him to call, you defiantly left a great impression. As Sharon stated people are always ready to complain, it's nice to hear a compliment. Especially when you work hard at what you do.
Aloha Connie,
What an excellent testimonial, you deserve it! Some of my favorite things are brown paper packages tied up in string and wonderful testimonials like yours.
Peace,
What an inspirational blog! The kudos you received was, I am sure, much deserved, and even better since it was unexpected. You never know what good news is waiting around the corner. Congratulations!
What a great story - can just imagine you walking on air for the rest of the week! Warmest congrats!
Sharon ~ You're right. Humans (not people) are always very willing to be critical: That is why getting something so unexpected as this was such a treat that I had to share. There ARE still good people in the world!
Kristina ~ How right you are! Thanks for stopping by!
Fernando ~It's made my week! Hopefully many more of us will be feeling the good karma! =)
Wendy ~ The reward was the message and recognition itself. It was more than I could have asked for.
Donna ~ Recognizing hard work is one thing, when it is appreciated, that's the payoff! =)
Kimo ~ Dew drops on roses & wiskers on kittens ;-D THANK YOU for being the first at noticing one of my "favorite things"!
Tracy ~ Thank you so much for your kind words. May many be heading your way as well!
Leah ~ I am (see pic above)! Thanks!
That's just great! How nice of him to take time out from his day to compliment your outstanding work!
Sounds like a well deserved compliment Connie. It is wonderful to be appreciated for what you do. Especially when you least expect it. Enjoy it - you earned it.
How nice and deserving Connie!! Thanks for sharing!
Connie~ This post made my day! Congratulations to you. It's always so sad to me how people won't hesitate to complain about something, but rarely take the time to extend a thank you...it's always nice to know however that there are people who do!
Marian ~ Thank you, that's what I thought as well.
Michele H ~ Unexpected compliments ARE the best testimonials. Hopefully his good karma will spread throughout our puddle in the Rain ;-)
Cathy ~ Thank YOU for stoping by!
Gina ~ I'm glad it touched you as well, although I'm sorry to see you go, take the good feelings with you on your journey!
There is something about the english accent, isn't there? They always make things sound so refined and fabulous! Seriously though, congratulations on your awesome feedback, and yes, it does make you feel great!
There IS something about an English accent, Melissa, so true! "Spot - On, Chap!"
Put that in the old testimonial book, WOW! I would be getting a business card to that agent and every agent in his office.
Isn't that the nicest???? You've inspired me for my next post, I think! thanx! Have a great day.
I have, Todd, thank you! ~ I'd be NUTS not to!
Abby ~ I'm so glad! Please come back & post a link so we'll all know where to find it ;-)
Congratulations on a job well done and the good fortune of having a business associate take the time to pass along his appreciation. It has such great rewards and costs so little to just say "Thanks"
I hope you will feel motivated the next time someone does a good job for you to pay it forward and let them know... we all can use some positive reinforcement during these tough times.
Warmest regards, Earlene Myers
Earlene ~ Thank you for your kind comments and, yes, I do try to spread the good Karma outwards whenever possible.
