This time of year is one of my favorites. The temperature begins to drop slightly but the sun still shines here in Redding allowing for outdoor activities like hiking, al fresco dining or a road trip to a nearby towns. My personal favorite is ccapturing the autumn colors in search for that perfect Thanksgiving picture I use on my greeting cards.
When I think of autumn, I think of "home" and the smell of freshly-baked apple pie. I think of my family and the many warm gatherings we've had over the years. For me, autumn is a time to enjoy life, enjoy our family and enjoy this beautiful country! We're seeing some turbulent times these days and while the uncertainty of "how long will this last" is a true reality, we still have each other, we have life, our standards of living are still greater and better than others less fortunate, so take this time of year and hug those you love and hug your country.
Happy Autumn Day!

Autumn is was in the air. Tomorrow we are expecting Santa Ana winds and temperatures in the high 90's . Last October with these winds we had many billions of totally lost homes from the wildfires that start from the dry temperatures of the Santa Ana winds. Let's hope we don't see that again.
Hello Maria, I also love the fall and all the memories it brings. I also hope that we do not see the Santa Ana winds.
Hi Maria. Lovely post. When I think autumn.....I think football :)
Now - on a side note....what the heck is that in your background picture???
Hi William - I remember the Santa Ana winds, it never brought good news that's for sure, we were evacuated for six days back in the 2003 wild fires but our place didn't burn down (thank God!)
Jeanean...we should get together more often here in Redding this fall and enjoy the beautiful weather!
Kara - what are you talking about (background picture)? You mean the Sundial Bridge? You're funny :), I guess looking at it again, it is a little hard to figure our what it is.
ok - that makes sense - a sundial! haha - kinda looks like 1/2 of a giant boomerang! awesome structure :) Thanks Maria
I love the smell of autumn! Burning leaves remind me of campouts when I was young. I think I need to change the look of my blog to fall. I love Brad's pumpkin patch!
We do not have any distict "Autumn", just the heat and humidity subsides and a cooler summer is here.
I came to you blog form William Johnson's. Will keep an eye on it now.
