YMCA of Orange County REACH OUT AWARDS EVENT - We need sponsors for this event; a great way to give back to the community!

PURPOSE OF EVENT :The event honors outstanding leadership and philanthropy in Orange County. It also raises funds to support the programs and services of the Community Services Branch of the YMCA. It is the major fundraiser for the Branch and supports the critical services described below.

WHAT IS THE COMMUNITY SERVICES BRANCH OF THE YMCA? The Community Services Branch is 1 of 8 branches in the YMCA of Orange County. It is different than the other YMCA branches in that it provides services county-wide and all of its services are geared to the highest risk and most vulnerable and underserved segments of the population. The Community Services Branch provides the following services:

• Community Health and Wellness programs targeting children at risk for obesity and related diseases.
• Bereavement Support programs for children and families who have lost loved ones
• Mentoring and tutoring to foster and/or homeless youth
• Socialization and recreation services to developmentally disabled youth and adults
• Health and Behavioral health services for low income children and families

All programs and services are dependent on subsidization from community contributions.

HOW FUNDS RAISED ARE USED: The monies raised at the Reach Out event support the following programs:

• Intervention, Prevention and Education programs serving children (and their families) who are obese or are at risk of obesity
• Mentors and tutors for foster youth
• Educational and Enrichment events for foster and homeless youth (Fundays)
• Respite care for foster parents
• Socialization and recreation programs/camps for the developmentally disabled
• Family counseling for low income children and families

DESCRIPTION OF EVENT: This is the 32^nd year this event has been held. It is the primary source of contributed dollars to support these critical programs. It is anticipated to have approximately 350 attendees representing areas throughout Orange County. Th fun night which includes, dinner, dancing, silent auction, live auction and many other exciting happenings is schedule below: (details will be updated as they are forthcoming)

• When: 6:00pm - 11:00pm, October 12^th., 2007
• Location: Hilton, Costa Mesa

PS> Kelly currently mentors and 12 year girl under the YMCA mentoring program and after seeing such need in the community and watching the kids faces light up everytime we get together she has expanded her help to the area of fundraising.
