Living in Yesterdayland...won't take you where you want to go.

If there's one thing I've learned over a lifetime of living and business it's "change." Change is happening now....change is constant and recurring. For better or worse things don't stay the same. Over the next few years the real estate industry will see enormous change in the way we think and do business. How well you do in this new paradigm is entirely up to you.

I can tell you that resisting change and failing to move with the times will not bode well for your future. All of us resist change. It's human nature I suppose. I remember when the microwave oven first appeared on the scene. (I'm dating myself.) No one I knew wanted one....and no one could figure out how they'd ever use it. For many it was the same with the computer.

Each change is unsettling to us.. It brings confusion into our lives and upsets our thinking.

Your aim should be to prepare yourself for opportunities now...and opportunities to come. No sales pitch intended....But it's like TailGateTags... Nobody wants them until they get them on their car and see the reaction they bring. Then they can't say enough about them. I might say the same thing about any new idea that comes along. Many of them are wonderful tools that you should use and make part of your life.

Never fear change. In it's early days movies with sound were considered a passing novelty. The movie industry also faced big changes when TV came onto the market, until it began working with TV instead of competing with it. Everything has a natural flow and progression.

Please remember my buzz words and use them as part of your everyday thinking. READ, LEARN, INNOVATE, CHANGE AND ADAPT. These 5 lessons will take you a long way in meeting your goals and securing your future.

The young people entering the business world have never inserted a cassette tape into a tape player let alone and 8 track. They can't remember when the Internet didn't exist. If you think things are changing fast now (and they are) just watch for a while. The pace of change is accelerating. "email it to my Black Berry". Soon we will be watching video tours of every home on our phone and only have to go out and see 1 or 2. That's good and bad. 11/13/2008 03:10 PM by Bruce Thomas (A-Z Tech Home Inspections, Inc.)

Bruce......as an old guy watching what's happening I can tell you that you're absolutely correct. We're long past Buck Rogers and Luke Skywalker... The Dick Tracy wrist radio has become the Blackberry. The age of Aquarius is out of mind and we're entering the Twilight Zone where no one knows what to expect next. It's a wonderful time of personal creativity and setting new trends. How we greet this new age will determine our place in it. Thanks for the comment..
