I have been aware of the slowdown that is usually associated with the year's end and Holidays, as well as the standard "We want to wait till the new year to decide," from clients. This year seemed slower than others in the past and I have to admit that a part of me was not sure if this was a sign of the times and a preview of what was to come in '09.
Fortunately, I have found the first part of the year (a total of 2 full work weeks) to be surprisingly active. People seem to be more optimistic about the year to come and the future value of real estate. I spent a lot of time and effort trying to dig up leads and generate new relationships last year. This work is appearing to pay off and I hope that this will last.
Getting back to the basics and working hard now will pay off for all those who are in the business to stay. Cooperation is more important than ever to make ends meet and deals close.
Let me know if you have found the same and best of luck in '09!!!
