Because my father, as well as a couple of my uncles worked on the railroad for a number of years, I usually am interested in events that come to the Sacramento State Railroad Museum. Beginning tomorrow (Saturday), the museum will be hosting a special exhibit with images from the Smithsonian, titled, "The Way We Worked."

The images document work and the workplace changes between the mid-19th century, when most Americans made their living as farmers, and the late-20th century, with its shift from an industrial to a knowledge-based economy.
Spanning the years 1857-1987, the exhibition's black & white images also reflect a workforce shaped by immigration and ethnicity, slavery and racial segregation, wage labor and technology, gender roles and class, as well as by the American ideals of freedom and equality
Tickets: General Admission: $8.00 adults - $3 ages 6-17 - Ages 5 and under are free
More information about the exhibit is provided in the following California State Railroad Museum article:
