Another great way to go green is to maximize your water heater's efficiency while reducing its power cost. In some condominiums you are responsible for your own water heater
in others it is a community water heater. One easy way to increase efficiency is to invest in an inexpensive jacket for your water heater. I know that it sounds funny but this will further insulate the heater helping to heat water faster and longer. Here in sunny California we don't have the bitter cold that the majority of the country suffers through, as a result we tend not to think of putting "jackets" on our water heaters, but we will enjoy lower heating bills and sharper performance from our water heaters.
One way to lower your bill is to actually lower the thermostat on your water heater by two degrees. You won't even notice the difference in your shower, but you might easily notice a difference in your power bill and of course the long range benefits for the environment can not be denied.
The main goal in going green is to reduce your carbon output in order to help the environment. Every little bit helps when going green, so take small steps and help us all to keep our planet green!.
