Last week I was up in the Poway area for a property inspection and finished at the start of rush hour. It's basically a waste of time and gas to try to drive from Poway to my office in La Mesa during rush hour, so I took the opportunity to stop at Walter Andersen's Garden Nursery. Waltern Andersen has two locations, one in Poway and one on Pacific Coast Highway near Point Loma. The one in Poway has a cool garden railroad that might take up about one third of the nursery. Fortunately, I had my camera with me (ha! as if you go anywhere without your camera), and I got busy looking at some of these free slide show utilities that I've gotten from my ActiveRain camping trips, and following is the result. There are 45 slides, beginning with the old auto.
*****One of the things I like best about being in the real estate industry is that I'm not stuck in an office anywhere, and being self-employed in real estate is even better because if I'm out doing something and have some extra time, I don't have to rush back to the office or call in to check with the boss to make up a fake excuse about a flat tire, heavy traffic, etc. LOL

Sadly I cannot get this to load on my DLS internet, so I'm going to have to bookmark and try again at the office with much faster speed.
Hey, Tammy - That's good to know. If something isn't accessible to the masses, what good is it? Let me know if it works at your office.
This one was from picturetrails.com. The other one that I have used before is slide.com. I might have Jim do his slide show at slide.com and see what the difference is.
Wel, your slide show isn't loading atm, but I was amused by your chosen phrasing. Active Rain camping. Hmm. Why wasn't I invited on this trip? =P
Well, that's interesting. It works on all my computers and doesn't care whether or not I'm logged into ActiveRain. I think I'm going to change it.
I changed it to slide.com. Does that work?
The slides are working; looks great. The details on the garden railroad is amazing!!
Russel,
I didn't even know there was one of these places till tonight now I find out there is two. As I wrote on Jim's blog, does anyone know how long it took them to build these? They are amazing!!!
Hey, Kim - This was the first time I've been there in over a year. The vegetation has grown quite a bit. In one photo, you can see a tunnel created by vegetation; that was just some "treet" planted by the side of the tracks the first time I saw them.
Hey, Linda - There are two Andersen Nurseries, but only the Poway one has the cool garden railroad. It has been there since the day they opened, so there was no opportunity to watch them build it and see how long it took.
Russel, that is a great railway exhibit and the gardens are beautiful! How unique! Thank you for the tour!!
Russel- it worked like a charm at my office. My home desk top that I was on is old, tired and my DSL at home is also less than at the office. I only live two miles from home, so I've not spent the money to upgrade further at home as I can always pop into the office. But at midnight last night I just had to wait until today to see your photography. Great job by the way and how far is this nursery from Chula Visita- I may just have to go visit next time I'm out. Looks like it's huge.
Okay now I've gone back and read all the comments and see you've changed it. Oh well, glad you got heads up it wasn't working and glad I got to see the photographs.
Hey, Caren - I have to learn to quit doing cool slide shows like that because I'll sit here and watch it a couple of times myself.
Hey, Tammy - It depends on where in Chula Vista, old Chula Vista or Eastlake? Actually, with the new 125 toll road open to Eastlake, it's probably about the same distance either way, probably about 40 miles. I-15 to Scripps Poway Parkway, east to Community Road, left, left.
I tried some other slide shows using picturetrail.com and it was having trouble, so I guess I'll scratch that one off my list in favor of slide.com.
Hey Russel, Walter Anderson should put you and Jim one their payroll. The Poway - Rancho Bernardo area is a wonderful area to live, work and play and Walter Anderson is a great playground.
I work from home and get to enjoy the result of my beautiful and charming wife, Kay's frequent Walter Anderson visits.
