Fair Oaks Chicken Festival of 2011 - the best ever!!

Last weekend, you may recall, Fair Oaks California had its annual Chicken Festival, honoring and celebrating our famous feral chickens that wander the Fair Oaks Village.  The festival covered the whole village, including the streets, which were blocked off for the event, and two adjoining parks.

Jon and I attended and had a wonderful time.  In fact, I believe it was the best one yet!  It was so well organized and there were a huge number of booths, three great bands in Plaza Park, and the kids park (Village Park) had so much going on for the kids that many families spent the whole day on that side.

I did promise that I would post my pictures from the event, and I am doing that here, but I have to admit that a great part of the time I was simply enjoying the party and forgetting to take pictures.  Sorry about that.



When you look at the photos, take a close look at the fuzzy things in the Easter baskets.  They are chickens - the fluffiest longest feathered chickens I have ever seen.  We couldn't even tell which end was the head.

I hope that next year you will be able to attend.  It is held every September, and you can believe I will be posting about it when it is coming up.
