A GREAT Time at the California State Fair in Sacramento

Gena at the State FairSacramento Real Estate took the afternoon and evening off and went to the CA State Fair in Sacramento.

What a time I had ... the theme is Fun Never Grows Old . It was a day to laugh, enjoy the company I was with, eat good and bad things and do a lot of laughing. I felt like a kid reminiscing about rides in amazement parks that I had a life-time ago ridden and felt the thrills.

Pictured to the left, I am hugging the golden California Bear which of course is on our CA flag.

It's not cheap going to the Fair and I actually had to hit up the ATM booth for more cash and wondered how in the world families were able to attend.

Never did see the fried coke but that's ok...don't think I would have given it a shot anyway. If you would like to know more about FRIED COKE watch the video provided by Channel 3, KCRA. The best food I had was sitting in the mist with a bottle of good CA wine, cheese, grapes and tomatoes along with some good conversation and a huge piece of cheese garlic bread while we rested our feet to prepare for more fun!!

I would have loved seeing Huey Lewis and the News but that day I was busy with Home Buyers. Daughtry bellowed out their music of rock for a huge crowd.

The Ewe Tube was not actively present and to be honest it seemed a little inhumanEwe Tube at the CA State Fair when I heard about it. There seemed to be technical difficulties on Wednesday.

I saw something that I would love to have in my backyard that requires no electricity and is distributed by a man who recently purchased 10 acres on a lake near Red Bluff for $380,000. He was thrilled to tell me all about it once he found out that I was in Real Estate...such a deal. But, I digress...

CA State FairGetting back to his product...very comfy and for $995.00 you too, can have this delivered and assembled to your front door. If you are just dying to have one of these swings in your backyard, I'm sure that B & M would be more than happy to sell you one.

A taro card reading was also in the mix...it seems that a man named Michael is coming into my life. Hmmmm stayed tuned, we'll see if she knew what she was talking about or not. It was surprising that the Taro card reader was very accurate about some other things, though.

It was fun and only cost $20 for each of us to compare notes about our future and past. Not bad.

The exhibits were great and California's past and represented represented with each of the Sacramento County at State Fair Exhibit county's was excellently exhibited. While strolling through the exhibit hall, the cinnamon rolls were a great treat along with the humongous sour dough bread slices with choice of toppings. Lots to eat and tons to see and experience all about California and the different areas of our great State.

Now for some pictures of the park itself, the rides, the lights and many screams and thrills that make the CA State Fair or any Fair for that matter so much fun!

Great to see these all over the park in Sacramento And to wet your thirst, there was always something cold.

There are many more photos but only so much time to devote to sharing a great time had by all...bringing back memories of when I was young, the rides I enjoyed.

How about you, what were your favorite rides when you were young and do you still enjoy the Fair and the rides?

The California State Fair in Sacramento will continue through September 3, so don't miss it. I ended my evening at the Fair listening to flute music from Peru will eating ice cream and watching the majestic water fountain with its many colors and levels of height while projecting into the atmosphere. And the final curtain call was a blast of fireworks saying thank you for coming and come back and see us again in Sacramento, next year at the CA State Fair.CA State Fair Fireworks

Good night ...until next year!

Gena...sounds like fun! Some awesome pictures too, thanks for sharing.  When I was a teen we lived in Pomona and the Pomona Fairgrounds were home to the L.A. County Fair ever September (I imagine they still are)....it was one of the places we all hung out.  I don't remember what it costs but I'm sure it was cheaper than today!  We use to get a day off school the first Friday of the fair...I don't remember if that was opening day or if it opened earlier in the week.  Most of my teen years were fun times, they are where my memories are (not many memories of early childhood/early teen years).  Going to the L.A. County Fairs is one of my favorite memories.  I've never been to the State Fair though.  This brought back many good memories.

I haven't been to the Cali State Fair in 10 years....I miss it so much..thanks for the pics at least I got to feel like I was there!

Looks like a fun time, Gena. Thanks for sharing the pics, they were great.

Jeff

Mary, I can't tell you how exhilarating it felt to be there. There is just something about all the color and the lights that makes you smile no matter what. It was great fun and I truly enjoyed myself. I think the others had a great time just watching me have such a good time. It is expensive though. $7 for parking, $10 to get in $5 for an ounce of wine (definitely make out better buying a $15 bottle), $3 for ice cream, $3 water and I don't remember the food since I didn't pay for that round.

When I was young and living in Denver, a girl friend of mine's Grandparents owned Eliches which was an amusement park and every year our class got a free ticket throughout the park...what a treat that was. I use to love the roller coaster and the ride above that now has a tarp that is put on top of the rider (looks scary now).

Glad you enjoyed your memories...isn't that what life is all about? Making memories!

Drew, glad I could bring you a taste of the CA State Fair. I really did have a wonderful time.

Jeff, my pleasure!

Looks like a lot of fun. You're right though, I don't know how families afford it.  I miss going to the fair. -Charles

Charles, it really was fun but yes, expensive. I did love every minute and it was nice to get away and just have fun.

Gena, it sounds like you had a great time, and enjoyed some marvelous food!  I can't remember ever having food that good at the fairs I've been to...  I did grow up a mountain girl, though!

Sandi, the one thing I missed was going over and taking a look at the animals except of course the Ewe tube...and actually the handlers were walking the horses either before or after the race and then there were the pony rides...did see them. So, I guess I saw it all. Don't mountain girls go to the Fair?

Gena-  we DID go to the fair... I just don't remember seeing wine, cheese and grapes on the menu!  It was more like:  hot dogs, corn dogs, some unidentifiable meat on a stick, and cotton candy!

Sandi,I'm so glad you clarified that. It was nice to have the tomatoes, wine, cheese, grapes and delicious cheese garlic sour dough bread.  I think the Fairs realize that some of us would much rather have something different. One of things I saw was chittlings...can't believe that was there nor the fried coke...YUCK!
