When trying to expand your services you have to stay true to your concept. The expansion should come in the form of targeting an under serviced part of the market not simply offering different services. Offering something new could completely take away from your core product, meaning a whole new learning curve. Finding a niche market that needs your services is completely different.
One of those under serviced markets is the hispanic or latino market. Recently an acquaintance of mine launched a high end magazine in the Sacramento market named VIXTA http://www.vixtamagazine.com/
Tatiana has recognized the high end buying power of the Sacramento latino market. One of the biggest stigmas is that most of this market is poor, the first thing most folks think is farm workers or hospitality service.
While it is true that many came here with very little or no education, there is a large number of very determined and strong driven people. Over the years the latino market has grown in income production and level of education, things their countries of origin could not provided. This has translated into a huge buying power. Companies that recognize this have built not only strong business but have become actual power houses of their own such is the case with Marquez Brothers Inc. http://www.marquezbrothers.com/homepage.html
<!--StartFragment--> <!--EndFragment-->The current Sacramento housing situation regardless of what anyone says was created by greed especially in the latino market. This is a huge problem that will only add fuel to the stigma of a lack of buying power. Hispanics or latinos are business folks by nature, this is especially important because small business owners are the back bone of this economy. While it is true that giant corporations produce millions of dollars in tax revenue, small business owners produce millions of jobs.
Sacramento is host to one of the largest hispanic markets in the nation, providing the necessary commercial real estate services to this part of the market is critical. It is not enough to say you are of hispanic parents, but understanding and respecting the culture. Being bilingual is great but providing the right information and highest quality possible is crucial.
I look up to people like the Marquez Brothers or Amador and John Bustos who founded a media power house http://www.bustosmedia.com/ for giving me the inspiration needed to realize that understanding your business and focusing are pivotal. And thank you to Tatiana for showing me that words are cheap and actions speak louder.
