San Anselmo has a stong sense of community. Residents who live close to downtown bond together. People meet downtown for coffee or brunch. Comforts restaurant is one of my favorites for coffee or lunch. (OK, OK, also for takeout and even catering for parties and open houses!)
The 2005 New Year’s Eve flood simultaneously devastated and strengthened the town. Naysayers claimed the downtown would never recover, yet months later shops were open and busy. The strong sense of community in this small town bolstered it and kept it alive. Residents support their local businesses. Who doesn’t love downtown San Anselmo- fabulous restaurants, numerous antique shops and chocolate a plenty! It is heaven in a small block.
