We rise at about 4:30AM, head out for a quick stop at the bait dock and then we are on our way to the Coronado Islands or offshore La Jolla or San Diego with fishing licenses in hand. 
Despite the early hour, the seas off San Diego are beautiful and offer what we call the "Saltwater Safari" with viewings of porpoises, frolicking sea lions, whales traveling south to calf... And then we spend the day searching for kelp paddies that harbor schools of albacore and yellowtail, or the occasional sea bass, all of which make for great eating.
