Tierrasanta - The Island in the Hills (of San Diego!)

So, I'm out and about yesterday with some clients and we are looking at homes in Tierrasanta. They have been renting there for a few years, but with a growing family, low interest rates, and a buyer's market, they are looking for a new home. They haven't limited themselves to Tierrasanta, but are always using it as a benchmark when comparing other neighborhoods in San Diego. Why do they like Tierrasanta so much you ask? Let me see if I can explain it . . .

Tierrasanta is situated like an island, not directly bordered by any community. It is bounded on the north by freeway 52 and the sprawling southern fields of MCAS Miramar, on the east by 5,800 acre Mission Trails Regional Park, which has many hiking and mountain biking trails, on the west by Interstate 15, and on the south by steep canyons overlooking the San Diego River and Mission Valley. Community activities focus on the Tierrasanta Recreation Center, which includes lighted sports fields, a large swimming pool, tennis courts, a gymnasium, and meeting rooms. Numerous green belts with walking paths run through the canyons of Tierrasanta. Tierrasanta is a thriving area of upscale single-family homes, condominiums, apartments, three shopping centers, a branch of the San Diego Public Library, and a research park. Also located in the community are several top-ranked elementary and middle schools rated through the Academic Performance Index (API) tests by the California Education Department, including the largest community school, Junipero Serra High School. So it's your basic suburban community right? I don't think so! The residents of Tierrasanta have a real sense of community. From the new parents and their playgroups at the local parks and the Rec center, to the Tierrasanta Village of San Diego which is a community group designed to support residents who want to remain in thier Tierrasanta homes as they get older - www.tierrasantaproject.org The people of Tierrasanta seem to really care about each other's well-being.

The homes in Tierrasanta range from small apartments, condos and townhomes, to single family homes with upward of 3500 to 4500 sq. ft. Despite the variety, they all have one thing in common. The residents of Tierrasanta have pride in their own homes and their neighborhood at large. You don't see junk on front lawns, trash cans left out for days, or weed filled yards. Tierrasanta neighbors look out for each other.

My clients may end up looking at five or ten other neighborhoods, but if they end up staying in Tierrasanta, who could blame them. Let me know if there is anything else I can tell you about Tierrasanta or any of the other wonderful neighborhoods of San Diego.
