December Season of Sharing and Celebrations. Fun Events under a BIG TENT

December Celebrations. Nothing like a fun event under a big tent to make you feel like a kid again.

So lucky to be in the Bay area where we have some fantastic venues for celebrations any time of the year. There’s something about attending a fabulous event in a tent that is so festive and brings back memories of bright-eyed childhood joys. Whether you're a kid, have kids, and don't have kids, these shows are bound to fill you with wonderment -- good feelings during this holiday season.

Shows and Events like these help to stimulate the local economies, especially San Francisco that relies heavily on tourism dollars. So we are doing our share to keep the economy going, and have fun doing it!

Two of the very best are:

Teatro Zinzanni.

It’s a dinner-show that is like a wonderful blend of song and dance vaudeville and cabaret, artistic Cirque du Soleil, circus clowns and gourmet food and wine. The show is on the San Francisco’s Embarcadero by the waterfront by Pier 29 and held in a huge tent. They have shops where one can indulge by buying some whimsy --- feather boa, bejeweled masks. out-of-this-world jewelry. Don't be surprised if the entertainment comes to you -- or rather gets on your table. And if YOU become part of the entertainment when they pull people from the audience to join them on stage.

The show is ending its run at this tent by December 31, 2011 and moving to a new and permanent location, also on the waterfront.

Cirque du Soleil

The tent atmosphere was typical of the three-ring circuses, hyped by their version of a ringmaster.

Although its run in San Francisco has ended, this traveling show will return to the Bay Area again, specifically in San Jose next starting in March. When we went, there were charter buses with revelers from various companies. The ones who seemed to truly enjoy the experience are the young, hip, back-pack toting employees of Google, all the way from Silicon Valley.
