This has nothing really to do with Carlsbad real estate, other than, perhaps, a suggestion for something to do.
I just got back from a mini-vacation in San Francisco. Yep, took the phone and laptop so I was not completely at rest, but with coverage in place for my listings, and great connectivity, it was easy to play…although NOT so easy to stay away from blogging. Not being near a computer for many hours at a time helped. But the blogging addiction was apparent.
Gotta get my blogging dose in so here’s a replay of the trip.
For anyone heading to San Francisco, there is an amazing array of fun things to do, depending on what floats your boat and your budget. The city is a terrific place to walk around in, and the public transportation is great, but a trip outside the city is well worth the time. Anyone who has been there knows what I mean. This city captures my heart again every time I visit…especially when visiting with someone I love deeply. :)
First off…I would normally NEVER EVER write something positive about my plane trips. Just doesn’t happen. Ever.
Virgin America changed all that. $79 roundtrip each from San Diego to SFO. On-time, the best customer service I have seen in a while, cool colors in the plane (mood lighting with pinks and purples that vary with the time of day), leather seats, and state-of-the art touch screen technology with personal entertainment systems at each seat – music videos, music, movies, TV, chat with neighbors at another seat, and WWW access coming soon. Check out their website – very cool. They fly between Seattle, Las Vegas, LA, SFO, San Diego, NYC and Washington, DC for now.
So here’s a recap:
Here is a terrific way to explore Marin County just over the bridge
Next day...
On Saturday
We covered lots of ground but had an amazing time. Hope you enjoyed just a few suggestions of some very neat things to do in San Francisco. The weather was amazing – so different from the fog and chilly air one often experiences there.
The housing costs are high but the trade off is the opportunity to live in an incredibly diverse and vibrant area. The market has shifted some in the last couple of years, so if you are thinking about moving there, give me a shout – I know a number of great agents there who would go out of their way to assist you.
Enjoy the Slide Show!

I really enjoyed that Jeff! One day I'll go back and visit my cousin and see all the sites....and now more. I have a whole list now. :)
What did you buy?,lol. I can seem to get through the city without buying something usually way to much to haul home. I used to go a couple times a year, there is just isn't 2 San Francisco's. Downtown is fun, the piers are fun, riding the trolley in open air is fun, I can't remember not having a fabulous time there. Since you were there last fall for the Blogging Convention, I would bet this time the weather was even better. Sunny bright and a cool breeze.
One day I am going to go back and do just a wine country trip. I learned how to do wine tasting. I never realized that you were supposed to spit it out after tasting it. Not as much fun with out the buzz but for the serious minded wine tasters, that is how it is done.
Sounds like this was wonderful and the pictures are the best! Welcome home to reality Jeff, lol This is what I need to do, take to trip to SF and enjoy the wonderful experiences there.
Wonderful presentation. I keep forgetting to use Slide once in while. Sure does a great photo expose.
I love San Francisco Too! I was there twice last fall - 4 days each - as part of a seminar.........2 days seminar - 2 days tourist....It is so diverse, tantalizing nad fun........all the old sites, which over the years haven't changed that much, scenically beautiful..fabulous weather....oh I want to go back! Thanks for the slideshow!
I was in San Francisco once...with side trips to Monterey and my favorite, Carmel. Sounds like you had a great time!
What a great town San Francisco! I did take a look at the airline and I was very impressed with their prices. Too bad they do not exist in Atlanta.
Great shots Jeff...I hope to get over there one day...I was hoping it would be for the bog meeting but I can't get away and it's a long trip for me...but I'll be over there in spririt. The closest I'll get is this weekend we get to see the giants comein and play the Marlins...maybe I can hitch a ride back go as a stow away:)
Sally - it really was a blast. So much to see and do, and always fun to explore new areas. Thanks for stopping in.
Jeff
William - it really was a memorable trip, in so many ways. We were good and only spent money on food, drinks, several CDs, and the concert. We looked, but did not buy, art work, clothing and jewelry. It would have been fun to hit wine country but just not enough time...and yep, I have been to wine tastings and learned how to sip adn spit. You sip and spit enough you still get a buzz...at least I do.
The weather was amazing - the warmest I have even experienced there, so it was a real treat.
Jeff
Liz - every time you spend there is an adventure I think. I love seeing the things I am familiar with, but thenew discoveries are a treat. I will be there again in July for the blogging conference.
Jeff
Kelly - Monterey is gorgeous as well, and so is Carmel. Next time be sure to hit the Big Sur coast south of Monterey. The time was the right amount, though - time to do what we wanted, plus downtown, and not away from work for too long. Perfect in every way.
Jeff
Jim - my guess is they will be expanding. It was proabbly the best all around flying experience (other than business class to Europe) I have had. Love the rates in this day and age.
Jeff
Neal - we'll miss you at the conference but you can bet there will be plenty of follow-up from a bunch of folks. Yep, it IS a long trip, adn it only makes sense if you can spend a few days. But the game is better than nothing, eh? At least you can dream.
Jeff
Jeff my wife grew up and lived in San Mateo (about 15 minutes from San Francisco) up until we got married. San Francisco is nice but I really like the surrounding area better.
I see you did not make it over to Pier 19 and enjoy some Sour Dough Bread Pizza :) :)
I was enjoying the photos again and a thought occurred to me. If Slide did a a picture slide show of every major city in the US, it would be totally awesome. The format that provide is just so wonderful. It's quick and the photos just look so good. That would be treat for anyone searching cities in the US. The one you did, which can have photos added and deleted is such a good representation. You ought to send the link and suggest it for the various Chambers associated. I had the idea when I did Julian and honestly, there is just isn't any nicer way to show off the city. Sorry to repeat myself. But when I saw this, I got excited all over again about it.
Jeff - What a wonderful looking city and you showcased it so well. I love your slide presentations. I mess them up! Maybe they just work in California??? It looks like you all had a wonderful time. It's great to get away for a little while.
George - well I have been to Pier 19 before (last trip) adn DID have it then. This time we wanted to do something different. I love the city, but the country as well. If I can enjoy both so much the better.
Jeff
William - very cool idea. I have a follow-up thought that is percolating.
Jeff
Thank you, Linda. It is so easy to write about a city that I love so much. It was nice to get away and fortunately i was able to take soem time but also be connected when it mattered. My biggesst challenge with Slide.com is just taking the time, which I don't awlays do, to do all the captions...I get too impatient. :)
Jeff
Thank you, Jeff, for the nice comment inserted in your San Fran column "This city captures my heart very time I visit...especially when visiting with someone I love deeply..." I love you, too! It was a fun getaway, wasn't it? And you didn't spend TOO much time on the computer. Kay (the wife)
Kay - :)
