Community volunteers help home owners in San Marcos

Over 250 volunteers joined this years VIBE project in San Marcos. Every year the City of San Marcos selects a street that is in need of a little face lift. Home owners of the needy properties are not physically or financially able to make needed repairs or remove large quantities of debris.

The Kiwanis Club of San Marcos and the Young Adventurers are just two of the many community groups that signed up and volunteered their Saturday.

There were six properties identified for this years event and the houses had a wide range of requirements. Some homes were treated to an entire exterior paint job and others having the landscape trimmed and updated. At least 4 (40 yard) dumpsters were filled with discarded items including fallen trees and old rusted outdoor furniture. Neighbors that did not have work done on their property were encouraged to fill the dumpsters with yard trimmings and other items that were no longer needed.

The VIBE project is held every year. For more information on this and many other oportunites, contact the Kiwanis Club of San Marcos or the City of San Marcos.
