Why I Don’t Shop After-Christmas Sales
By Michelle Carr Crowe, Silicon Valley real estate agent selling homes in Santa Clara County
Anyone who knows me can tell you I love a bargain.
From Westfield Shoppingtown Valley Fair in Santa Clara to Westgate Mall on Saratoga to Stanford Mall in Palo Alto, Silicon Valley boasts a huge variety of stores and bargains to choose from. So why don’t I shop the after-Christmas sales in Santa Clara County?
1) I’m tired. Truly, after a big Christmas celebration and the days of preparation, I need to just unwind, enjoy my presents and relax.
2) I’m uninterested in spending time with the crowd who shops the after-Christmas sales. The people who do shop those after-Christmas sales, at least in my experience, are the same ones we heard about on Black Friday-using pepper spray on other shoppers, not to mention the pushing, shoving and line-jumping.
3) I may buy some fabulous bargain gift-only to misplace it before next Christmas. I tend to “hide” gifts too well-I can’t remember where I put them until after Christmas (or the birthday, etc.).
Tomorrow I plan to sleep in, relax with my family and savor and start playing with all of the fun gifts I received for Christmas.
