If I were the boss, I would (12 things)…

Have you ever daydreamed? Of course, you have. Some of us have daydreamed about being rich. Right? Some of us have daydreamed about the perfect vacation. (Raise your hand if that’s you.) Others of us have daydreamed about being famous, dating the perfect guy/gal, climbing Mount Everest, winning the Tour de France – it could be just about anything that we’ve dreamed about during the day. And then there are some of us who may have even daydreamed about being the boss? Well, okay. Maybe you haven’t daydreamed it, but I’ll bet you’ve thought a thing or two about the boss’ approach to running the office / doing business. Hmm? (And you may have even been so bold to have voiced it?) And so what if you were really the boss? Daydream it for a moment. What things would you change? What things would leave the same? What weights would you carry - what burdens that you have no idea about? I guess my whole point is that just as in our own lives we can at times go under-appreciated and unrecognized for the sacrifices we make for the sake of others, so I’m convinced that the men/women sitting in the big chair / in charge face the same thing. Maybe you can take that statement and include it in your daydream as you have fun reading the following fill-in (btw, the boss didn’t pay me to write this): If I were the boss, I would…

  • Give myself / everybody a raise.
  • Expand the business.
  • Contract the business.
  • Pull my hair out.
  • Be nicer.
  • Be meaner.
  • Be happier.
  • Be more personable.
  • Fire so-and-so.
  • Hire so-and-so.
  • Pat me on the back more often.
  • Kick me in the rear more often.
