Orienteering Race comes to Tahoe City, California, February 2-4, 2012

January 29 – February 5, 2012, The 2012 Sierra Ski-O Tour and 2012 Ski-O World Cup competition will be held in Bear Valley and the greater Lake Tahoe Areas beginning January 29 – February 5, 2012.

There will be 8 events over 8 days including 4 World Cup Events, 3 North American Championship Events, 3 U.S. Championship Events, and 2 World Ranking Events.

This is the first time a World Cup Ski Orienteering event is being held outside of Europe. There are 14 countries represented at the international events. This is a great opportunity for those interested in Orienteering to get a firsthand look at the world-class competitors in action.

Orienteering is the sport of using a map and compass to find your way on an unfamiliar course. Add snow and cross country skis and you have an exciting competition.

Events are being held at various locations in Bear Valley and the greater Lake Tahoe area. If you missed the earlier events at the Tahoe Donner Cross Country and Royal Gorge Cross Country areas, you’ll get a chance to see the participants in action on February 2, 3, and 4^th, in Tahoe City, California at the Tahoe Cross Country Ski area. Events begin at 9 a.m.
