A Realtor Should Have Only One Thing On Her Mind...

Have you ever worn a pair of shoes that made you miserable all day long? I have!

Don't get me wrong! I love trendy, cute shoes that coordinate just right with my outfit... but they usually are soooooo very painful! By noon I am feeling like my toes are in a vice grip with every step I take. I am convinced this would be a great interrogation technique for prisoners! Just make someone walk a few hours in these trendy shoes and they will tell you anything and everything to get them off their feet!

Agonizing torture!

A couple of years ago I bought a pair of simple black pumps at Jack's shoes in Westlake Village Ca. After wearing them for a week I ran back to Jack's and bought the brown pair! They were sooooo very comfortable. Lately I find myself looking at my collection of shoes and trying a few trendy pairs on... then I usually decide on the comfy favorites. Black or brown... whichever matches best.

After a few years of wear and tear, these comfy favorites have started looking a little ragged. The thought ran into my mind that I needed to go shopping for some new ones. Then I remembered an interview I saw years ago of Paul Newman. He mentioned how his toaster had broken down and he fixed it. He said that he was the kind of person who believed in trying to fix something before buying a new one. He likened this lifestyle belief to challenges he faced in life and marriage with Joanne Woodward of many years. His words had made an impression on me.

So, the next day I put my favorite shoes in a bag and took them to Champion Han's Shoe Repair on Thousand Oaks Blvd. Thomas, the owner, took one look at my comfy treasures and said, "No problem. That will be $10.00 for each pair." I reached in my purse and gladly handed him a $20 bill and promptly left with my claim ticket.

Today was the day I picked up my favorite shoes. I arrived and handed Thomas my claim ticket. He brought out a bag and opened it up. My eyes were quite please with what I saw! The scuffs were gone. The tear in the heel was repaired. The heels had new taps and they were polished to a beautiful sheen! My shoes were just like new!

I took my prized possessions home and placed them in my closet. I know I will be wearing them often in the months to come in 2010.

After all, a Realtor should have only one thing on her mind when she shows property... her clients! (Not her aching feet!)
