Moss at Donner Lake

The trees on this property with Donner Lake views caught my attention. Not that the lake views didn't, but there's just something about this shade of green!

Moss at Donner Lake

I love the texture of the trees. How they've survived the years and the "character" they express.

Moss at Donner Lake

I love this tree and the way it proudly wears the scars of the years...

Tamara - You have some great shots of moss and those trees look like they are very Large!

That tree has seen many many years of snow storms and sunny days :-)

Trees are so adaptable, I was at the top of a mountain about 12,000 feet altitude and a few trees were twisted almost like a cork screw from 100's of years of crazy strong winds... pretty cool :-) I have to find that pic to post !

Robert--I like "green" things!  Those are big trees.  Many years of exposure to the mountain lifestyle! ;- )

Bob--That's true.  On Donner Summit there are some twisted trees too, growing right out of the granite (well, cracks in the granite...)

You can use the green for St Patty day.... LOL... have a great day !  PS great picture

Is it not amazing how God created these trees as a form of art .... have a good one . ! your buddy here in big D

Hi Lynn--Thanks and yes, it's amazing!  I've seen things in nature that man will never rival in his attempts at creativity...  Are you gearing up for the weekend yet?

Hi Tamara:  I also love green, especially the sage-y shades like this....oh yellow too, can't forget yellow or Murray won't listen to me ;-)  Beautiful tree, excellent capture.  What equipment are you using?

Hi Gail--I cut my teeth on a Canon EOS A2E with a 28-105 being my main lens.  Loved the 100-300.  Used a wide angle infrequently... But I have to admit, that when I started my real estate career 10 years ago, I decided to buy a Sony digital--this thing is so old it has a place to plug in a floppy disk!  I became a catch as catch can photog (but Murray stayed with me).  I loved being able to take pix of properties I saw with clients, so they could remember them better... After seeing more than 4 in a day, they all run together.  So I'd shoot and send them home with a disk for later review.  Worked out really well.  Rarely break out the Canon anymore :- (

I agree the tree is beautiful I wonder how tall it is. Its a beautiful green color on the tree. its amazing with what nature comes up with.

Thanks,

Tamara:  I just bought the Canon Rebel XSi to replace my little PowerShot G5.  The camera is wonderful, I wish I had sprung for the next model up, but these things are soooo expensive.  Then I had to have the image stabilized 100-400mm lens.  It's awesome, but the package weighs close to 4 pounds.  It seems now I feel I have to have the 70-200 IS lens as a go-between the Beast and the Bug which is 18-55mm.  It's an expensive avocation, but one which provides a measure of sanity for me.  Thanks for answering my question :-)

Hi Kim--

I want to say it's well over 60'--but I'm not good estimating vertical distance! ;- )

Oooh Gail--Sounds like a nice kit!  I think I'd have to start lifting weights again to manage a 4 lb package!!!  It is expensive, but there is nothing like capturing the moment!   I probably shot 5,000 images of my daughter and her friends by the time she was 3!  I wouldn't trade those images for anything!  Yes, it definitely gets you out of your head and into the moment when you're trying to capture it on film...especially when shooting kids (like herding cats!).

Tamara, you put so much thought behind explaining the scars behind these trees. Ours look like twigs compared to the gargantuan ones in your backyard.

Hi Gary--

They are soooo amazing.  Especially surviving the harsh winters here!  I have aspens in the backyard next to the creek and they get so twisted under all the snow... the will to survive and thrive is strong! But the really big trees are the redwoods near the coast.  Of course, I love the oaks in the Napa valley too...  Guess I'm just a tree hugger at heart!  ;- )

Tamara, those shots are really cool. I love the difference between the bark and the moss. Thanks!

Now those are my types of pictures. Not surprising since you're over in Truckee. Great place to see what Mother and Father Nature have been up to these many years.

Hi Russel--Glad I could provide "your type of pictures!"  Tahoe/Truckee is one of those places you don't have to leave to get great shots!

Hey Tamara, Very pretty shade of green, and I too like the texture in the trunks. Proud and beautiful trees!

Debi

Beautiful!  Love the color, =o) but also the "textures' of the bark...nice shots!

Hi Cheryl--Glad you got a minute to stop by during your crazy week!

Hi Debi--

The trees here are amazing.  Along with the wabi-sabi shots, I need to pull out some of the really "weathered" trees on the summit pix.

Hi Andrea--Thanks for stopping by.  Yes, I loved the contrast too!

Tamara, what is up ... how is Saturday going cold here staying in clients delayed showings have a great day !

Hi Lynn--

Busy day.  Some business and then some prep for a teen "intervention" group that will be filming at my house tonight...  My daughter is on a dance team that has gotten some funding to do peer presentations/interventions for schools, etc.  They are going to film a segment tonight, most of the performance will be live though.
