On this Valentine's Day, I was curious where the most romantic destination that you and your Valentine spent a just-for-two getaway??? Warm tropical locale? Exotic international venue? Cozy country hideaway? Far-flung or nearby? As with most vacation locations, I know it depends on the person/s. I'd love to come up with a few new ideas for future consideration.
My favorite? Right here in Tahoe/Truckee. Quietwater Creek-- Open the 8' sliding glass door and the linen drapes billow in the breeze (of course, this is more of a summertime thing). The playful sound of the creek will enchant you during the day and lull you to sleep at night. There are acres and acres of greenbelt just beyond the property that make for wonderful hiking. The master suite is sumptuous, with venetian plaster, a 4-poster bed that is draped, 2 person jetted tub in the bath and a sitting room/library.
The great room is beautifully furnished with huge windows looking out to the creek and pines and aspen. There is a large stone fireplace which is perfect for romantic evenings with a glass of wine and a selection of dark chocolate! After all, what's a romantic getaway without chocolate??? The kitchen has stone floors that feel amazing under bare feet, granite counters and a large butcher block island. Plenty of room to create romantic dinners together. And for breakfast, you can share the deck over the creek with a mermaid! Truly a place for couples to experience the magic of the mountains.
I'm eager to hear about your favorites romantic getaways!

Enjoy breakfast on the deck. Huge forest views and the sound of the creek. Even a mermaid for company.
