W - A film by Oliver Stone

Oliver Stone, the maker of highly acclaimed movies such as Platoon, Born on the Fourth of July, JFK, Nixon, and Wall Street, presents his latest project, W - A chronicle on the life and presidency of George W. Bush. The Lionsgate movie is billed as a comedy, but if Bush's presidency wasn't in it's final weeks, the movie would be seen as a horror movie instead.

W stars Josh Brolin as George W Bush. Josh's dad, James Brolin, played Ronald Reagan in the highly controversial 2003 CBS TV movie that ultimately got bumped from the network.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Oliver Stone portrays George Bush, the most unpopular President in U.S. history.

How will this stand up to "Primary Colors" the film where John Travolta did his worst Bubba Clinton impression?

Didn't see that one and won't see this one. Living inside the Beltway for the first half of my life and just outside for the rest, I wish to suspend dis-belief when I plop down my movie theater money.

I don't usually have any interest in these types of films, maybe you can write a review if you see it.

Can't wait to see it.  My friend's cousin is Richard Dreyfuss, who plays Dick Cheney. Dreyfuss said a few "not so nice" things about Cheney.  WIth Dreyfuss being such a great actor I am sure his portrayal of Cheney will be CHILLING.

This does look like an interesting movie. I saw a good interview on Real Time with Bill Maher and Oliver Stone. Stone is really quite an interesting man and his films are generally homeruns.

Aloha Stewart,

They say that comedy is really tragedy plus time. I'm not so sure that enough time has elapsed yet to allow me to laugh at the effects of the Bush administration.

I saw Mr Stone on CBS doing an interview.  Sounds like an interesting movie.  I'll wait til it hits the rental stores though.  Im not 9 dollars curious.

I finally saw the movie this evening.

Oliver Stone treated George Bush with a lot of sympathey and he tried to rationalize some of the irrational behaviour we've witnessed from the President - however, as a movie, I was disappointed with W.

Josh Brolin's portrayel of Bush was excellent, but I was expecting more from Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney.

Josh Brolin did a convincing Dubya, though he reminded me a lot of his cowboy character from No Country for Old Men... over all, i don't doubt that 'W.' will have the effect Oliver Stone desired
