They say the most important factor in real estate is location. Well, for Whittier real estate, it doesn't get any better than one of the Historic Districts around Uptown Whittier.
The Historic Districts of Whittier are:
The Whittier Historic Neighborhood Association
The Whittier Historic Neighborhood Association boundaries are Orange on the North, Painter on the East, Hadley on the South and Greenleaf on the West.
The Whittier Central Park Historic District
The Central Park Historic District boundaries are Hadley on the North, Friends on the East, Bailey on the South and Washington on the West, but also extends south for several houses on both Washington and Friends.
The Hadley/Greenleaf Historic District
The Hadley/Greenleaf Historic District boundaries are Broadway on the North, Painter on the East, Hadley on the South and Greenleaf on the West.
The Whittier College Hills Historic District
The College Hills Historic District includes homes on Bailey Street, Ridge Road, Philadelphia Street, Ridge Road, Hillside Lane and Worsham Drive.
Two of the Whittier Historic Districts are in the Whittier Uptown Specific Plan: The Hadley/Greenleaf Historic District and the Central Park Historic District.
The Proposed Historic District of Earlham and Penn
This new Historic District has been approved by the City of Whittier Historic Resources Commission, and consists of six homes on Earlham Drive and one home on Penn Street.
The Whittier City Council will meet in early 2011 whether to give final approval to this new Historic District of homes.
Whittier Uptown Specific Plan
The Whittier Uptown Specific Plan lists 15 buildings with distinct historic architectural styles.
