Life in Arvada CO - Merchants of Historic Olde Town Arvada - the Butcher (Steve's Meat Market)

Steve's Meat Market in Arvada ColoradoSteve's Meat Market is right on the main north/south route through Historic Olde Town Arvada. Local hunters have long known it's the place to go for big game on-site processing. In fact, Steve's Meat Market has been at this location since 1985 and is the largest big game processor in the western region.  During the hunting season, Steve's processes 8,000 to 10,000 animals.

Hunters bring their game to Steve's Meat Market, and pick up the processed meat in three to five days.  Steve's Meat Market is also a drop-off site for taxidermy.  There's a small retail area, where beef, buffalo, elk, pork and venison sausage, bratwurst, ground burger and jerky can be picked up on the way home.

Steve's Meat Market is in a 119-yr-old building. Originally 5751 Olde Wadsworth Blvd. was 'Evans and Black Livery Stable'.  In 1931 the 'Arvada Blacksmithing Shop' made its home there, then 'Arvada Iron Works' from 1946-48, next was the Steve's Meat Market in Arvada Colorado'Lincoln Cab Company", and then the 'Arvada Tire and Brake'.

In 2005, Steve's Meat Market received a 'Business of the Year' award from the city of Arvada because of their renovation of their historic building. An award from '5280, Denver's Mile-Hi-Magazine' followed two years later.

Steve's Meat Market's website includes instructions for field preparing your game, and a page full of Steve's personal hunting stories.

The center of historic Olde Town Arvada is roughly bordered by Ralston Rd., Teller Rd., Grandview Ave., and Yukon St.

Arvada is a historic town about midway between Denver and Boulder in Jefferson County, Colorado. There are many different neighborhood and shopping area styles. Novo Coffee is near the intersection of Wadsworth and 80th Ave., the main north-south and east-west routes through Arvada, near neighborhoods built mostly in the 1970s with wide streets and sidewalks, mature tree canopies, and nice-sized yards.

I write posts focused on local businesses as a public service, and am not endorsing any business, nor do I have any sort of 'relationship' with them, other than as a raving consumer. My hope is to give people an idea of the 'flavor' of the community of Arvada, in case they're new here or considering a move here.

I am a residential real estate agent, and would love to assist you if you're considering buying or selling a home in the northwestern Denver suburbs.
