Remembering Those Who Died Preserving Freedom.

I know some of you object to flags that should have been "retired", but personally, I can't fault anyone who proudly displays our beautiful flag, even in this tattered condition.

When I look at this torn symbol, I see pride and love of country.  Of course, it's time for it to be replaced by a new one, but who of us can say in these difficult economic times when another person can or cannot afford that.

I would rather see this ragged flag instead of a bare flag pole.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend and take time to remember those who paid the ultimate price, giving their lives in the service of our country, preserving freedom.

Nothing wrong with flying a tattered flag as long as it is done in respect - Thanks for the post...

Mike, well said! I have to agree, it does look better than a bare flag pole. Have a good weekend.

Mike, you are so correct. and if you are a veteran, thank you for serving.

You have a great weekend.

Mike,

Your picture says a thousand words.  Thanks for sharing, and hope you enjoy the holiday.

Mike, thanks for sharing this photo. IMO it looks beautiful.

Mike, I remember seeing our Star Spangled Banner while it was in renovation at the Smithsonian.... tattered from it's service at Fort Henry.  Gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there.  It left me in tears.  To me a tattered flag is a flag that has been in service.  Kind of like our veterans.

A war torn flag says it all.  We are in trying times now and this look of our flag expresses what we are going through and what lies ahead.  Great, great picture!!!

Mike - This beauty of that American Flag leaves me speechless.  Thank you for sharing this wonderful photo.

Mike, add my sentiments to the others above. I have nothing more to say, other than thank you. Thank you for the great shots, and thank you for serving our country.

Hi Mike. I love what this flag says to us - Freedom doesn't come easily. There is a cost.

Hi Mike,

I think this is a beautiful photo-- a little respresentative our country;maybe a little frayed, yet still standing. In front of that gorgeous blue sky, flying free in the wind -  it says: "stand proud".

Great shot, Mike!

Mike, great photo for this Memorial Day.  Like that flag, our country has been tattered and torn at times, but we still proudly stand and show our colors.  Those worn places on that flag remind me of the different storms that our country has gone through, just like the wind, rain, storms, etc that the flag has obviously endured.

Mike - I don't have a problem with the tattered flag.  I think the country has felt just about as distressed these last couple of years.  We'll come out of it stronger however!  All will be well.  And thank God for those that paid the ultimate sacrifice, so we may remain free!
