Time to Stop Procrastinating

This post could be a simple reminder to stop procrastinating. That is a bad habit that many of us have. However, I'll combine the reminder to stop procrastinating with a Localism feature.

In my case, I've spent the last year thinking about joining the Jack Quinn's running club. Yes...a whole year. Anyway, Jack Quinn's is an Irish Pub and Restaurant. Every Tuesday, a bunch of people get together for a 5K run in downtown Colorado Springs. Afterwards, participants can get a beer for $2.50. On May 24th, 533 people participated. The record thus far has been 1,277 runners. Once a runner has ran on 10 Tuesdays, that person gets a Jack Quinn's T-shirt.

It's not that I don't like to run. I love to run. It's not that I can't run a 5K. It's not that parking is a problem. I live downtown after all. It's a free event, so money isn't the excuse. I hear there is inexpensive beer available afterward. (hmmm..beer or the standard bananas and oranges that you get after running a 5K? That's a hard one.) Well, instead of trying to figure out what my various excuses are....which I would most likely try to blame on my being in the Army and being tired, tomorrow my procrastination will end.

Tomorrow will be a little different than every last Tuesday over the last year.

Why?

Tomorrow, Tuesday, June 7th, will be the Jack Quinn's Running Club's 5th anniversary. So....the weekly Tuesday 5K will be little more fun than usual.

To celebrate their anniversary, it's going to be a party. There will be live music by TRIBE. Odell Brewing is providing 4 kegs, so each runner will get 1 free beer while supply lasts. Tons of cool free swag from Brooks to be given away.

When you sign in, you will be given a free beer ticket and raffle ticket at the sign in table. Jack Quinn's says to please remember to tip your bartender even though the beer is free.

Early Bird Start time is 6:00. Straggler start around 6:15.

See http://jackquinnsrunners.com/Route.php for the route. Despite the numbers of runners, this is a casual running event. Share the side walks and trails. Don't Jay Walk. Or Jay Run....

So, if you live in Colorado Springs and have been procrastinating about joing the Jack Quinn's group. Stop. If you live else where, find a reason to stop procrastinting about what ever you procrastinate about. As the Nike motto says, "Just Do It"

Note: How's this for using Active Rain for an accountability group?
