Last Chance RallyCross Race at Pikes Peak International Raceway June 17-18th

Fort Carson, Colorado is known as the "Best Hometown in the Army." The following is one example of the reasons why:

The MWR, BOSS (Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers) and Best Buy hosted a great lunch event yesterday at the Fox Hole Lounge to everyone on post. Best Buy provided a free hamburger lunch. Not little bitty hamburgers, BIG grilled hamburgers. In all seriousness, the hamburgers were very good.

Amongst other things, part of the lunch included a promotion for the RallyCross event, "Last Chance," being held at the Pikes Peak International Race Way this weekend (June 17-18^th). Pikes Peak International Raceway is located approximately 20 miles south of central Colorado Springs off of Interstate 25 exit 122 in Fountain, Colorado.

RallyCross racing is yet another example of how sports are taken to a higher level of "challenge." From what I read, Rally Cross racing combines the best aspects of circuit racing, off road racing, and rally competition to provide a great experience for racing fans. The course involves jumps, tight turns and transitions between pavement and gravel.

Free tickets were given away at the hamburger lunch on Fort Carson yesterday. If you are interested in going, it only costs $5 to attend the qualifying rounds today, Friday June 17, 2011.
