The reality of calling your Sphere
If your insurance agent called you and asked about your family, how your life was going, how is your business, and made pleasant conversation for a just a minute or two, that would leave you with a warm feeling, right?
But what if, at the end of that conversation, the agent said, "If you know anyone who might be looking to purchase insurance, would you please pass my name along?" How would you feel about the phone call then? You would feel that you had just been used, or that they didn't really care about you, or that all of that nicey-nicey was just a front for them to solicit you.
I know that there are many companies who train their Agents to follow a script and ask for referrals. No thank you. I don't want those phone calls, MOST people don't want those phone calls, and it makes you seem very insincere. It actually would ruin the trust factor that I have with you were you trying to solicit me in that manner.
So when you call your sphere, stop trying to sell yourself. Build the relationship and they will remember you when they hear of someone wanting to buy or sell a home. As opposed to not wanting to pick up the phone the next time that they see your number on caller ID because they know that you are just trying to pump them for referrals.
We are in the RELATIONSHIP business. Build that and they will come.
And if you are not already a Subscriber, maybe now is the time (now THAT was a solicitation LOL).
