The Colorado Springs Utility Company Newsletter - Worth Reading!

Colorado Springs Real Estate Connection - News from the Utility CompanyDo you read the insert that comes with your monthly utility bill? As a Colorado Springs homeowner, I usually ignore it, but lately I have been making a point to read it.

Here are a few of the more interesting things that I read in the last Colorado Springs Utility Company newsletter:

  • Approximately 50% of all residential water use is used in maintaining the yard and landscaping around the homes in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Utility Company (www.csu.org ) is holding free Xeriscape Basics classes this summer. The next class is Saturday, June 7, at 9am at the Conservation and Environmental Center (Xeriscape Gardens) at 2855 Mesa Road - right off of Fillmore/Fontmore.
  • The Colorado Springs Utility Company completes 360 water quality tests EACH MONTH to make sure that our drinking water meets all regulations.
  • The Colorado Springs Utility Company (CSUC) has its own blog, where you can "get the latest advice and tips on how to save energy and money" as a Colorado Springs homeowner.
  • The CSUC was awarded 2 $25,000 grants that will be used to "train Realtors® and builders to sell Energy Star homes", among other things. So, if you are looking to buy a home in Colorado Springs, and are interested in purchasing an energy efficient home, find out who much your local Realtor® knows about the Energy Star rating as well as what new home builders in Colorado Springs have the Energy Star rating.

This is a lot of great information. Hopefully, next time your utility bill arrives, you will find a reason to read the newsletter.
