Livin La Vida "LOCAL" - Word of Mouth Machines by your own doing!

Go Local and Get Referrals

As a Marketing CEO that is about to go national with my company, this may be an ill-advised story to put out there... but... I didn't earn any success through holding back my thoughts. (They can chastise me later) So here it is...

Saving a Dollar can be a disease! Darnit!

Of course there are allot of things that can help every business in the way that they can improve sales and referrals. However in today's www-dot-world, its becoming more and more like businesses have forgotten how to get the community to refer sales to them. It always befuddles me that so many that are in sales fail to do business with Local businesses just to save 5-10 dollars. While it's understood that most folks are pinching pennies and trying to get the best dollar value that they can right now, many are missing the mark when it comes to "Working In A Community."

The "Word of Mouth Referral Machine"

In Sales of any type, you should know what type of customer that you are selling to. If you are selling primarily to the upper middle class, and need a Sign Company to make yard signs for your Real Estate biz... It might make sense to call on a local sign shop that's locally owned by... You Guessed it... an Upper Middle Class Entrepreneur. Same thing goes for everything that you might buy for business... Paper, Printing, Photography, Virtual Tours, and everything else under the sun. Truth be told, you might spend a couple of extra dollars. But if you can get just one sale from these local companies referring a deal to you, you will come out way ahead of the game. Not to mention... here's the BONUS... your money is working to improve and maintain your local economy.

Don't get me wrong, I'm guilty of calling the first company that pops into Google after a search because they have exactly what I think we need. But after some careful thought, it's clear that choosing a company with at least local ties is a better choice in most cases.

In conclusion, there will always be times when it's necessary to go out of area for things that we need because of availabilty or technology. But other times it might make sense to pay a small amount more for a local service or product.

This is another one of my humble opinions, but truthfully I had to say it before I exploded. (lol)

I wish you well, and Happy Days!
