First Snowfall of the Year - Denver

First Snowfall of the Year - Denver

First snowfall in Denver

The first snowfall in Denver has arrived overnight. The big news over the last few days has been the impending winter storm bearing down on Denver and mountain communities. This is good news for the ski resorts (some are already open).

Snow Fall

As a Denver listing agent with vacant properties, I have been very busy getting the thermostats changed over to heat, sprinklers blown out and getting these properties prepared for winter weather. Not only our listings, but properties my buyers have under contract to be sure they are not closing a property that has had frozen sprinkler valves!

Silver Maple

The hazards of having an early snow fall when there are still many leaves on the trees is broken branches. This heavy snow can be quite dangerous for our beautiful mature trees. There are also power lines down and power outages across the City. As you can see with my Silver Maple, the branches are hanging pretty low.

Ski Season

Snow fall in Denver is exciting, as it states ski season is here! Tourism for Colorado relies on our ski resorts to bring skiers from all parts of the world to our slopes. Last year we had an EPIC year of snowfall in our mountains, but the City of Denver was spared most of the winter and had a mild winter in the City.

There is up to 16" predicted, but right now it looks like a snow blower will not be needed. With the 80 degree (record breaking) temperatures on Monday, the snow has yet to stick to the hard surfaces! When it does start sticking to the streets, it is always fun to see who are new to Denver and winter driving! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
